Delving into Delve

Office 365
For those who haven't heard, or discovered it yet Delve is one of the new apps that now come with Office 365.
So what is Delve?
Delve finds your content for you on Office 365. It will find your documents, emails, videos etc as well as documents that have been shared with you. It will tell you who has been looking at shared documents. It will find things on shared sites, your OneDrive.
Everyone  in our organisation has access to Delve. What one person will see is different from what another person sees. Delve finds information that is directly related to you, and what is happening to information that is shared with you. Delve shows and finds this information no matter where in Office 365 it is stored.
In Delve, documents and videos show up as cards. These can be opened by clicking on them. The card is divided into a number of areas. The top part of the card shows you who has modified it, or how many people have viewed it recently.
The next section is the title.
The next part is a graphic and will give you some idea of what the document looks like.
Next it tells you what type of document it is, and where it is stored.
You can send a link via email, check out who it is shared with and the total number of views the document has had.
Finally it can be added to a board.

What is a Board and why add a card to a Board?
A document  can be added to a board. Documents that are related can be added to the same board. Boards make it easy to collect and share content. Everyone has access to these boards, but only documents that you have access to will show up.
Boards can be searched for, followed, unfollowed, and a link to them sent via email.

So will Delve be useful?
I think that used as a search interface in Office 365 Delve will save a huge amount of time. It very quickly finds documents that you have access to. Even as a search is being typed in, it starts showing documents.
I also think that Delve will be useful for easily seeing if a document has been modified and by whom. Of course that information can be found elsewhere, but no-where as quickly as by using Delve.
